Below…..
…is an article shared by a friend on Facebook. I have hypothyroidism, this coupled with pernicious anaemia could be the reason behind my mood and low energy more than any mental illness.
This is not my work
I’ll be with you all my life
I’m very slippery, I don’t always show up when you test!
People around you can’t see or hear me, but your body does. I can attack you anywhere i choose. For example aching joints, brain fog, head aches!
Remember when you had a lot of energy, Well, sometimes I participate in: your energy, I leave you exhausted… memory loss or your concentration.
I can make you sleep for many hours or I can cause insomnia. I Make you tremble & feel cold, everyone else’s temp is normal.
I can make your feet, hands, face or eyes swell, I can make you feel very anxious & suffer with panic attacks.
I’m very complicated…
Do you remember that sudden mood swing? Yes, it was me… crying for no reason … me, pissed off for no reason! that’s me too.
I can make your hair fall out, be thin, dry and brittle. I can cause acne, dry skin! I have no limits
I will make you gain weight no matter what or how you eat.
Doing activities like walking or exercise won’t get me out of your body, but it will help calm me down a little, that’s if you have the energy!
I know you started going to the doctors to “sort me out” Treatments help me relax for a little while but not forever!
I can cause high cholesterol, blood pressure problems, that’s just me been me! Heart & liver problems? That’s me too! dental problems? Me too
Will you feel tired… yup, and your family and friends will be tired of hearing you moan again and again how “I feel so poorly”. They don’t know that I remove part of the energy your body and mind needs daily to perform their tasks!
They will not understand you! why this disease attacks your body from your hair to the tips of your toes, and that every cell and organ of your body requires the appropriate amount of thyroid hormones that I kick down!
So don’t stop taking those pills every morning that the doctor gave you… they replace the t4 hormone I decrease.
Although I don’t like them much, I can’t play as many jokes, I know it will help you feel a little better!
Lots of love
Your Thyroid friend 🦋
