4am

No, not the amazing song by avenged sevenfold

I’m talking about 4am this morning, when I woke up. This was the first time in my life that I can remember everything was silent. I live close to a dual carriageway and a main road, both normally have traffic on them day and night. Also I am close to the railway line, so I hear freight trains during the night. Normally I can hear the wind or breeze outside, but this morning there was absolutely nothing. Dead silence. It was eerie. For a while I wasn’t sure if I was actually awake or dreaming.

It only lasted for a short while, maybe a minute or so. It was so quiet all I could hear was internal, my breathing and my heart beat. I really cannot remember a time that this has ever happened before. Unfortunately my heart was in a wierd rhythm with ectopic beats more noticeable than normal.

I’m tempted to try to stay awake for as long as possible tonight to see if there is another moment of dead silence, however its more likely I will be sound asleep by 9pm
